OUR MISSION:

MEMORIAL at the field honoring not just Maj. Bauguess, but all troops killed in action that were also WCHS students.

SCHOLARSHIPS to encourage young students to develop the leadership traits that Larry embodied.

FIELD IMPROVEMENTS to the WCHS baseball field named in his honor to keep it looking beautiful and proud far into the future.

ANNUAL BASEBALL TOURNAMENT to provide fundraising for the endowment fund as well as to honor the game that Larry loved.

Major Larry J. Bauguess, Jr., was a positive role model, student, and baseball player in Wilkes Central High School's class of 1989, as well as a devoted father, husband, son, brother, and friend.

Our mission is to come together as a community to preserve Larry's memory through the baseball field that bears his name; The Major Larry J. Bauguess, Jr. Memorial Field at Wilkes Central High School in North Carolina, which was so named on August 4th, 2008. An official dedication ceremony for the field is planned for Spring 2009.

To ensure that the field and any momument that is erected in his honor is taken care of in perpetuity, an endowment fund has been started to allow the field; once named in his honor, to be maintained and improved upon for the future.

The endowment will also award scholarships to one male and one female student at WCHS that exhibits the core character traits which were embodied by Major Bauguess and that are encouraged in all of our students by the Wilkes County School System: Responsibility, Respect, Self-Discipline, Kindness, Good Judgment, Perseverance, Courage, and Integrity.

Please explore this website to learn more about Larry, his love of baseball, and his many accomplishments. Please contribute to the fund and help his memory continue through his love of this game.

TIME WILL NOT DIM THE GLORY OF HIS DEEDS
